Get Licensed in 2–4 Weeks

The exact roadmap from "no experience" to licensed Life & Health insurance agent — costs, timelines, and military-specific shortcuts included.

Five Steps to Your License

Every state requires a Life & Health insurance license before you can sell. Here's exactly how to get one.

Choose Your State

Get licensed in your state of legal residence — your Home of Record for military purposes. You can add non-resident licenses for other states later as your business grows.

Get Study Materials

Invest in a quality pre-licensing course. Online self-study is the most flexible option for military families. We provide a discount code on study materials — contact us to receive yours.

Study (2–4 Weeks)

Most pre-licensing courses take 40–60 hours to complete. At 2–3 hours per day, you can be exam-ready in 2–4 weeks. Focus on understanding concepts, not just memorizing answers — and take practice exams until you consistently score 80%+.

Schedule & Pass Your Exam

Exams are administered through Prometric or PSI depending on your state. The fee is typically $40–$75, and you can test at a center or, in many states, online with a remote proctor. The exam is multiple choice; most states require about 70% to pass, and results are usually immediate.

Apply & Get Contracted

Apply for your license through your state's Department of Insurance — many are approved within days. Then get contracted with carriers through our agency, free, and start training. Already licensed? Start contracting now →

What It Costs to Start

📚

Study Course

Online pre-licensing courses vary by state and provider. Ask us for your discount code before you buy — it's the biggest startup expense and the easiest to cut.

📝

Exam Fee: $40–$75

Paid to the testing vendor (Prometric or PSI). Some states add a small license application fee after you pass.

🏢

Agency: $0

No franchise fees, no buy-in, no inventory. Legitimate agencies don't charge you to get contracted — and neither do we.

💡 Military Spouse Tip: Many states have military spouse license portability laws. If you're licensed in one state and PCS to another, you may qualify for a temporary or expedited license without retaking the exam. Check your new state's Department of Insurance — or use our state licensing directory.
💡 Veteran Tip: Some licensing prep courses are approved for GI Bill benefits. Verify eligibility with your VA education office or the course provider before enrolling.
